Connecticut Shoreline

Custom homes on the shoreline, built to outlast the weather.

Harris Home Builders is expanding from the Farmington Valley to the Connecticut shoreline. Shoreline houses face salt air, wind, flood zones, and coastal zoning that inland houses never see. The materials that last here are not the cheap ones. We take on custom homes and whole-home remodels in Madison, Guilford, Old Saybrook, Essex, Westport, and the towns between, with the same open-book budget and guaranteed maximum price we use everywhere.

Building near the water.

Flood zones

FEMA zone, base flood elevation, and an elevation certificate come before design, not after.

Coastal site plan review

Lots near tidal wetlands and the coastal boundary go through state and town coastal review. We plan for it from the first visit.

Materials for salt air

Stainless and hot-dip galvanized fasteners, standing seam or copper roofing, rot-proof trim, and siding that does not mind the wind.

shoreline rocky bank

New to the shoreline, and we say so.

What we bring is the same process that works inland: a paid pre-construction phase that produces a real budget, a guaranteed maximum price, and a builder who has done every trade with his own hands and knows what a coastal house asks of each one.
